Second Thought was born in the summer of 2005 through the vision of three young women concerned with making a difference in the lives of young people. With the increasing violence and apathy growing amongst teenagers, the recent college graduates could no longer idly stand by and watch the leaders of the future physically and mentally destroy themselves. Immediately, the trio came together to establish an after school program dedicated to teaching youngsters the power they possess through knowledge and unity. They wanted to encourage the seemingly lost generation of today to take a second thought before reacting to complicated situations. As their vision grew, the founders discovered that their biggest problems to tackle were how to make education relative to the lives of inner city youth and how to improve their decision-making process; One Voice, Ladies, and Next Move were their solutions. Second Thought is a new organization with many dreams and ideas on how to better service the lives of tomorrow’s leaders. By partnering with other like-minded organizations and individuals, Second Thought will guide young adults to a higher definition of themselves and greater sense of their roles in their community. The only constant thing in the world is change; why not make it for the better? Just think about it, take a second... thought.
